Jordbruk och närmat

Frågor som är speciellt viktiga för mig är  omständigheter som rör matproduktion, lokalekonomi och naturens mångfald. Som initiativtagare till REKO-konceptet har jag fått hedrande utmärkelser såsom ”Nordic Food Entrepreneur 2017” och ”Årets landsbygdsprofil i Finland 2018.”

Hållbar utveckling och klimatförändring

Klimatförändringen är ett hot vars verkliga följder är svåra att förutspå, men det är vår plikt att försöka upprätthålla förutsättningarna för ett drägligt liv också för kommande generationer. Dessutom är verklig hållbar utveckling en grundförutsättning för att inge framtidshopp.

Solidaritet

Solidaritet behövs i vår värld i allt större omfattning. Flyttande av produktion till låglöneläner har samtidigt flyttat miljöpåverkan och problem till områden som nödvändigtvis inte har verktyg och resurser för att lösa dem. Solidaritet behövs också i internationell matproduktion – en lönsam matproduktion borde möjliggöras överallt i världen.

  • Certifierad ekogranskare 2001-2015
  • Deltidsanställd projektkoordinator inom EkoNu under åren 2012-2018
    REKOs utveckling skedde inom ramen för detta projekt.

Under årens lopp har jag fått ett flertal utmärkelser bl.a.

  • ”Årets Närmatgärning” 2015, Mässtiftelsen Helsingfors
  • Emblas ”Nordic Food Entrepreneur” 2017
  • ”Årets Landsbygdsprofil i Finland” 2018

I’ve known Thomas for several years and would be delighted to see him enter the EU parliament! Speaking several languages and spreading good ideas between countries (for example the idea of Community Supported Agriculture from France to Finland) he’s a real European in the best sense of the word. Je connais Thomas SNELLMAN depuis 2009, dans le cadre d’une collaboration favorisant les échanges de jeunes et de professionnels du monde agricole, entre nos  territoires ruraux : la région finlandaise autour de la ville  de Jakobstad  et la région française liée à la ville de Bressuire ; sa profonde conviction de la richesse des échanges européens en termes professionnel, culturel et humain en fait une personne prépondérante  pour le développement de notre communauté européenne. Le voir devenir un jour Député Européen me paraît une  évidence,  sachant combien ses valeurs personnelles sont en phase avec l’esprit de la construction européenne. Nous avons besoin de toi Thomas pour rendre l’UE encore plus convaincante. Avec tout mon soutien.

Nous connaissons Thomas depuis de nombreuses années et le soutenons bien évidemment pour sa candidature au Parlement Européen : il saura y porter sa vision d’une agriculture durable :  respectueuse de l’environnement, privilégiant les circuits courts, facteurs de rémunération juste pour les agriculteurs et d’un juste prix  pour un produit de qualité pour les consommateurs : cette vision est, à notre sens, essentielle pour les citoyens européens!

Par ailleurs, il aime à partager son savoir et reste également toujours curieux pour apprendre au contact des personnes qu’il rencontre.

Nous espérons sincèrement que sa voix soit entendue au Parlement Européen

To whom it may concern:

When I met Thomas Snellman in 2016 for the first time I was suddenly impressed from his ideas of the REKO circles in Finland. But the most important was his willingness to share his information and create networks across regions and nations. Thanks to him we could create a first REKO circle in Italy in 2017.

Thomas capacity to listen and try to understand different situations  and culture is unique and the positive thinking  when things are not going in the right direction gives the energy to finalize a project.

When I asked him why he was so committed to support local agriculture in such difficult environment the answer was “to see another farmer happy and looking at the future is the best reward I can get from my work”.

I am glad that Thomas Snellman is running for the European Parliament, we need competent and pragmatic people in agricultural sector to reinforce our European Union.
